Dr. Gabriel is Professor of Medicine (Rheumatology) & Professor of Epidemiology, and the William J. and Charles H. Mayo Endowed Professor. After her appointment, by the U.S. Government Accountability Office to the Methodology Committee of the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), she became its first Chair. She is also Dean of the Mayo Medical School. Dr. Gabriel is PI of the AR468949-10 Heart Disease in Rheumatoid Arthritis grant. Dr. Gabriel's research, which is largely NIH funded, has resulted in more than 246 peer-reviewed scientific publications addressing the risks, costs, determinats, and outcomes of the rheumatic diseases. She has received numerous research awards in recognition of these contributions. Dr. Gabriel earned a Doctor of Medicine degree, with distinction, from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, completed Internal Medicine Residency and Rheumatology fellowship at Mayo Graduate School of Medicikne and a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from McMaster University. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and in Rheumatology.
