The children are not happy about this prospect and try to come up with plans that will get them out of working. A photographer comes to document the conditions at the mill, and Grace sees a way out of the difficult, forced labor. Arthur, however, cannot get out of the mill fast enough and intentionally injures himself so he can go back to school. Grace continues to fight in her own way and eventually finds a way out.
